YouTube Media Consent, Online Safety & Safeguarding Agreement (Under 18s)

This document outlines the terms, safeguards, and expectations relating to the participation of athletes under the age of 18 in video content created by Power Cheer & Dance for publication on our official YouTube channel and associated social media platforms.
Please read this document carefully. By signing at the end, you confirm that you understand and agree to the contents of this policy.

1. Purpose of the YouTube Channel
The Power Cheer & Dance YouTube channel has been created to:
 

• Increase club outreach and visibility

• Do something different within the cheerleading industry

• Showcase the exceptional ability, talent, and personalities of athletes within Team F5

• Create an engaging, episodic series that entertains viewers while highlighting the commitment and journey of competitive cheer

The series will be partially fictionalised. Situations shown may be dramatized for entertainment purposes, and some elements may be scripted to enhance storytelling and viewer engagement.
Not everything shown should be taken as a literal or factual representation of real events. The content is produced as a drama-style series designed to engage audiences while remaining rooted in the club environment.
2. Media Consent
By providing consent, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Your child may appear in video and audio recordings used on Power Cheer & Dance’s official YouTube channel and related platforms (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, website)

• Content may include training footage, interviews, vlogs, challenges, story-led scenes, and competition-related moments

• Videos may be publicly accessible and shared by viewers

• From time to time, athletes’ first and/or full names may be used within video content

Consent can be withdrawn at any time in writing. Please note that previously published content cannot always be fully removed once shared publicly, but we will take reasonable steps to comply where possible.
3. Online Responses & Public Interaction
We understand and acknowledge that public platforms such as YouTube can generate both positive and negative feedback, including comments from individuals outside our control.
By signing this agreement, you confirm that you understand:

• Comments may include opinions, criticism, or negative remarks

• Online bullying or unkind comments are a risk on public platforms

• Power Cheer & Dance cannot control all third-party interactions

Our Commitment:

• We will actively monitor comments where possible

• We will remove/block inappropriate, abusive, or harmful comments when identified

• We will never encourage or allow athletes to engage in online arguments or negative discussions

• We will never use content to provoke controversy, embarrassment, or negative publicity

Our athletes’ wellbeing will always remain a priority, and support will be provided should any concerns arise.
4. Safeguarding, Welfare & Mental Health Support
Athlete wellbeing is central to everything we do.
Power Cheer & Dance commits to:

• Maintaining a strong safeguarding-first approach in all filming and content creation

• Ensuring athletes are never pressured to participate in filming

• Allowing athletes to opt out of filming at any time, without consequence

• Providing age-appropriate boundaries and supervision during filmin
  Support Measures:

• A qualified counsellor will be available to support athletes if required

• Emotional and mental wellbeing support will be accessible inside and outside the gym environment

• Parents and athletes are encouraged to raise concerns immediately

• Any concerns around online behaviour, bullying, or emotional distress will be taken seriously and addressed promptly
  5. Content Boundaries & Ethical Standards
  We confirm that:

• Content will reflect the club’s values while also embracing a drama-style format

• Some situations may be edited or portrayed in a heightened or stylised way for entertainment

• Filming will only take place in appropriate settings (never in changing rooms or private areas)
  While some sensitive or emotional moments may be included as part of the storytelling, these will be handled with care, supervision, and appropriate support.
  6. Voluntary Participation
  Participation in YouTube content is entirely optional.
   

• Choosing not to consent will not affect your child’s training, team placement, or opportunities within the club

• Consent may be withdrawn at any time by written request
  7. Acknowledgement & Agreement
  By signing below, you confirm that:

• You are the parent/legal guardian of the athlete named below

• You have read and understood this policy in full

• You consent to your child’s participation under the terms outlined above

• You understand the nature of public online platforms and associated risks

• You acknowledge the safeguarding measures and support systems in place
